## **How does Curve save me money when spending in foreign currencies?**

We use a wholesale fixed daily rate provided by Mastercard® which stays the same throughout the day. You can use the [Mastercard® Currency Converter Calculator](https://www.mastercard.com/global/en/personal/get-support/convert-currency.html) to check the rates of your transactions. Please note that:

* Exchange rates can fluctuate between the date you made the transaction and the date it's actually processed by the merchant to your account. The exchange rates will be applied to your account immediately and without notice.
* Mastercard® updates their fixed daily rates every day at 12 pm Central Standard Time (CST). This means that to receive the correct rate we charged you, you have to take into consideration the time difference and enter the appropriate date into the calculator.
* If we have to convert the currency of a payment made using your Curve card, we'll use the latest exchange rate from our provider. Please check our Fee Schedule for any additional fees that may apply to your currency exchange transactions.

### **Are there any fees?**

Depending on which Curve tier you’re on, you’ll have a different fee-free limit for your foreign spend and ATM withdrawals:

**Curve Pay (free)**

* 0% fee on spend in over 150+ foreign currencies up to £250 per calendar month, after which there will be a 2.99% charge.
* ATM withdrawals are charged £2 or 2% per withdrawal, whichever is higher.
* Additional 1.5% fee on weekends

**Curve Pay X (£/€5.99 per month)**

* 0% fee on spend in over 150+ foreign currencies up to £3,333 per calendar month, after which there will be 1% charge.
* ATM withdrawals are free up to £300 per calendar month after which there’ll be a charge per withdrawal of £2 or 2%, whichever is higher.
*   No weekend fees

If you’re a frequent traveller, our Curve Black or Metal products might be better suited to you:

**Curve Pay Pro (£/€ 9.99 per month, £/€ 99.90 per annum)**

* 0% fee on spend in over 150+ foreign currencies up to £50,000 per calendar month - after which there will be a 1% charge
* ATM withdrawals are free up to £500 per calendar month, after which there will be a charge per withdrawal of £2 or 2%, whichever is higher.
*   No weekend fees

**Curve Pay Pro+ (£/€ 17.99 per month, £/€ 179.90 per annum)**

* 0% fee on spend in over 150+ foreign currencies up to £100,000 per calendar month - after which there will be a 1% charge.
* ATM withdrawals are free up to £1000 per calendar month, after which there will be a charge per withdrawal of £2 or 2%, whichever is higher.
*   No weekend fees

All fees mentioned are calculated and charged based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). View our Fee Schedule for any other fees that may apply to your currency exchange transactions.

### **Spending in foreign currencies during the weekend?**

If you are a Curve Pay X, Pro or Pro+ customer, you will not be charged any additional weekend FX fees.

**Curve Pay customers:**

If you make a withdrawal or purchase over the weekend and on UK bank holidays, we'll use our provider’s latest available exchange rate as the currency markets are closed. The weekend rate counts as Friday 23:59 UTC – Sunday 23:59 GMT, during this time, we take the latest available exchange rate from our provider and charge an additional 1.5% for all conversions.

We charge a 1.5% weekend currency conversion fee in addition to the currency conversion fee or the foreign ATM withdrawal fees when the currency of your transaction (i.e the currency at the point of sale) is in a different currency to your underlying payment card.

For more information, take a look at our [Terms of Service](https://www.curve.com/legal/terms/) and the Fee Schedule.

## **1% interregional cashback**

All premium tiers (Curve Pay X, Curve Pay Pro and Curve Pay Pro+) can now earn 1% cashback on interregional FX spend!

Mastercard defines an interregional transaction as "A Transaction that occurs at a Card acceptance location in a different Region from the Region in which the Card was issued".

This means if you make a transaction outside the Europe region (as defined by Mastercard) using your Curve card, and a currency conversion has occurred, some sweet cashback will be making its way to your Curve Cash balance 🤑

Earned cashback can be tracked in your Curve Pay app by selecting **LaunchPad > KillerFX** and you can learn more about what counts as interregional spending [here](/en_gb/1-interregional-cashback-HkKqqk_YA).

## **Do I need to tell Curve when I go abroad?**

There’s no need to let us know when you’re going abroad! However, we recommend travelling with a backup card in case your Curve card is lost, blocked, or in the unlikely case that Mastercard® isn’t accepted.

Safe travels!
